Thames Water has gone out to tender with a major AMP8 contract for the supply, repair, installation and maintenance of sewer depth and Event Duration Monitors worth an estimated £60.24 million (inc VAT).

The water company is looking to install.between 15,000 - 30,000 additional Sewer Depth Monitors and around 900 Event Duration Monitors (installation & spares) by the end of AMP8.
Thames Water said the number of SDM installations has been calculated in the strategic modelling of blockage, flooding and pollution performance and is part of a suite of planned interventions (including sewer cleaning, customer education, sewer rehabilitation) identified to deliver performance improvements during AMP8.
The contract is being tendered in the folowing Lots:
- Lot 1a Supply/repair of Sewer Depth Monitors (Trunk) - £4.498 million inc VAT
- Lot 1b Supply/repair of Sewer Depth Monitors (Network) - £13.494 million inc VAT
- Lot 2 Supply/repair of Event Duration Monitors - £1.62 million inc VAT
- Lot 3 Installation and maintenance of Sewer Depth Monitors - £26.7 million inc VAT
- Lot 4 Installation and maintenance of Event Duration Monitors - £10.488 million inc VAT
Thames is looking to appoint single suppliers to Lots 1a, 1b, 1c, Lot 2 and Lot 4, and up to 4 suppliers to Lot 3
Current estimated start and end dates for the contract are 27 October 2025 to 27 October 2028, with a further possible extension option to 26 October 2033. Thames Water envisages that the contract will be awarded for an initial term of 3 years with options to extend by 1 year or longer, up to a maximum overall term of 8 years.
Deadline to submit enquiries about the tender is 12.00pm on 16 May 2025 and tender submission deadline is 10:00am on 27 May 2025.
Interested suppliers who want to participate need to complete a brief online form and provide their company name and contact details of two people in their organisation Thames Water can correspond with.
Once the form has been completed and submitted, the suppliers’ nominated representatives will then be sent an invitation to access Thames Water’s Project SharePoint site where they will then have access to the PSQ and related documents necessary to complete their initial submission, together with an exclusive document library where the supplier can to upload responses accordingly.
