United Utilities seeks supply chain input ahead of tendering £80m security enhancement framework

United Utilities is inviting interested suppliers to provide information about their company capabilities and expertise ahead of going out to tender in 2022 with a framework contract for security enhancement of its physical assets.

UNITED UTILITIES

The water company is looking to put a Security Enhancement Framework in place to provide works and/or services for the security of its network and process plant assets.

The scope of works and / or services required under the framework comprise:

  • Physical Hardening of asset security This covers works to delay an intruder seeking to gain access such as sealing potential intruder access routes that are not required for operational use i.e. bricking up unnecessary doors & windows, providing security door and window grills etc. It also includes the installation of security covers to underground facilities, manholes etc.
  • Fencing The installation of new or enhanced perimeter fencing including improved gated access to prevent intruder access.
  • Integrated Controls and Response Planning This includes the installation of a variety of intruder detection alarms and links to United Utilities’ monitoring centres, together with the installation of access control equipment such as swipe cards, electronic keys etc.
  • Cameras and associated equipment The installation of security cameras, recording devices, uninterrupted power supply systems, etc.
  • Minor civils works Ducting, draw pits and ancillary enabling works e.g. camera post foundations etc.

Initial framework period is 5 years, with 3 further annual extension options. With an estimated value each year of £10 million, total contract value will be between between £50 million and £80 million. Estimated date of publication of the formal contract notice next year is 4 July 2022.

United Utilities is asking interested suppliers to submit their responses by 13th December 2021 at 5.00pm – click here to access the documentation.
