Birmingham City Council has gone out to tender with a multi million pound contract for a miscellaneous drainage works framework.

The wide-ranging contract scope covers rivers, brooks, reservoirs, pools and drainage - the works include:
- Routine and reactive maintenance work to existing grill structures in watercourses
- 24 Hour Emergency clearance work to grill structures and highway culverts
- Construction of new and maintenance of existing flood defence structures
- Repair and reconstruction of brick and other lining to watercourses
- Repair, improvements and rehabilitation to natural watercourses, small pools and large reservoirs
- Small Flood defence schemes
- Sustainable drainage schemes and maintenance works
- Earthworks, dredging and general environmental works, including in environmentally sensitive areas
- Construction and maintenance of lengths of drains, gullies and manholes
- Flexible pavement and footway construction
- Installation of new drainage systems and associated manhole constructions
- Bank stabilization works and construction of new retaining structures
- Protection to existing underground statutory utility and other services and mains
- Safety fencing and associated landscape works
- Other miscellaneous civil and water engineering works
- Drainage maintenance and landscape management
Anticipated start date is 9th January 2021 - the framework agreement contracts will be for a period of 4 years and awarded to up to three suppliers.
