Southern Water awards £2.5m electricity meters repair and maintenance services contract

Southern Water has awarded an AMP7 contract for electricity meter repair and maintenance services worth an estimated £2.5 million.

SOUTHERN WATER

The water company was looking for a MOCOPA and Elexon Registered Meter Operator (MOP) to become a framework provider to provide services to its portfolio of currently 2 500+ meters which consists of Half Hourly (HH), Non Half Hourly (NHH) Automated Meter Reading (AMR) meters - current 'dumb' meters were not included in the scope. All meters in the portfolio are currently privately owned by Southern Water.

Scope of the contract includes:

  • maintaining SWS's private meter portfolio;
  • fault resolution for metering issues;
  • installation of new meters/re-certification to meet legislative and SWS requirements;
  • scheduling of site visits for metering faults and manual meter reads;
  • Data Collector (DC) and Data Aggregator (DA) services for SWS and SWS's nominated electricity suppliers;
  • associated energy efficiency/optimisation services/innovation (including Project Management).

 

Telford-based firm IMServ Europe Ltd has won the work – initial contract term is four years with up to four further years extension options.
