The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has gone out to tender with a contract for research services to evaluate the recently announced flood and coastal resilience innovation programme.

The government announced a £200 million fund for the programme in the 2020 Budget, which will allocate £150 million of the £200 million to 25 local areas.
Defra is seeking to undertake a realist process, impact and economic evaluation to co-ordinate data gathering across the 25 areas in order to gain a better understanding of the cost-benefits of actions to improve resilience to flood and coastal erosion risk and consider which actions work, for whom, and in what circumstance.
The six year contract will start on 5 April 2021 and end on 31 March 2027.
