Retail water sector - Business Stream secures water supply contract with Shell

Water retailer Business Stream has secured a new water and waste water services contract in the UK with one of the world’s largest oil and gas supermajors, Shell.

The three-year contract will see the Edinburgh-based retailer Business Stream supply over 550 of the company’s UK sites.

In addition to providing a single consolidated bill for their sites, Business Stream will support the company to make greater water efficiency savings as part of its wider sustainability drive.

Plans are already underway to develop a bespoke water management strategy, which will include on-site water audits and the deployment of water saving interventions designed to deliver environmental and financial savings.

Business Stream will also be supporting the company’s efforts to create educational content and campaigns focused on encouraging actions and behaviours that help to generate environmental efficiencies.

“We’re excited to be working with Shell. Our aim is to help make the company’s UK operations even more efficient by introducing water and waste water solutions designed to deliver financial and environmental savings – and, in doing so, help to support the company’s ambitious sustainability goals.”

Business Stream is the largest operator in the Scottish non-domestic water market. Headquartered in Edinburgh, it also has offices in Worthing and Bradford, and employs around 400 people.

The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water with its own board and independent management team.
