Northern Ireland firm Translink has gone out to tender with a contract to put a civil engineering contractors framework in place worth an estimated £150 million.

Translink’s Infrastructure and property division is responsible for maintenance and capital works to all infrastructure and property for Northern Ireland Railways Company, Ulsterbus, Metro and NITHC.
The aim of the framework is to provide design services and construction works to support the delivery of the client’s programme of capital and maintenance construction works.
Typically, the work to be undertaken via the framework is of a civil engineering nature, with works packages awarded under traditional or design and build contracts.
Type of works to be undertaken via the framework includes:
- bridges (under/over line, viaducts, footbridges)
- culverts, tunnels, earthworks and retaining structures
- rock cuttings (including cliffs
- sea and river defences
- miscellaneous structures e.g. water towers, drainage systems
- piling/specialist foundations
Initial contract term is four years with four further annual extension options.
Translink is looking to appoint up to seven suppliers to the framework agreement.
