Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a contract for detection and analysis equipment contract worth an estimated £2 million in total.

The water company is inviting suppliers to express their interest in tendering for supplying a multi-parameter onsite water quality monitoring system suited to continuous remote monitoring of final effluent waste water.
Scottish Water have set out a number of specific requirement for the system, including:
- the ability to adapt and customise the system to varying monitoring needs (e.g. removal of parameters that are not required) and treatment works design (e.g. no mains power, turbulent FE discharge)
- easy access to secure cloud-based data
- provision of training
- energy used by the system must be from a low carbon source - ideally solar
- maintenance must be minimal, and when required, unchallenging and efficient.
The system will be used to monitor final effluent discharges from waste water treatment plants to allow operators to understand performance and resilience. It will also provide further insight into typical performance trends and unexpected events/pollution incidents.
Initial contract term is 8 years with 2 further 2-year extension options.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 15th December 2020 – click here to access the tender documentation.
