Thames Water awards £2.5m Chemical Investigations Programme AMP7 contract

Thames Water has awarded an AMP7 contract for its Chemical Investigations Programme work worth an estimated £2.5 million.

The award of the single supplier framework agreement covers sampling, laboratory analysis and reporting from sewage works, river sites etc, across the Thames Water geographical region in the South of England.

The total number of samples over the initial term of the contract will be approximately 2 600 to be undertaken through a phased scheme of work for Chemical Investigations Programme 3 (CIP3).

The majority of the samples will take place in the first year (and sixth year if extended).

The groups of substances to be sampled include:

  • metals
  • flame retardants
  • antifungal substances
  • sanitary determinands
  • substances of specific environmental concern
  • pharmaceuticals
  • insecticides
  • substances of emerging concern.

The initial contract term is for 5 years with options to extend further up to a maximum term of 8 years.

The contract has been awarded to Abingdon-headquartered RPS Environmental Management Ltd – the global professional services group employs around 5000 people worldwide with a presence in 125 countries.
