Thames Water tenders £2.5m filtration plant equipment contract

Thames Water has gone out to tender with a contract for filtration plant equipment worth an estimated £2.5 million.

The water company is looking for a number of partners to help support its water filtration process and improve water quality by removing bacteria, dissolved salts, cryptosporidium and other particles from the feed water.

The contract is being tendered in 3 separate Lots:

Lot 1: Cartridge Filtration

Lot 2 is for the design, supply and commissioning of Ultrafiltration equipment and membranes, together with technical support and autopsy services for the membranes provided. There is a requirement to replace 17 racks of Ultrafiltration at Thames Water Desalination Plant in the first year of AMP7 – the utility will also consider awarding this as part of the procurement.

Lot 3: Microfiltration Membranes

This Lot covers the design, supply and commissioning of micro-filtration equipment and membranes, together with technical support and autopsy services for the membranes.

Installation of all new plants or membranes is currently carried out by Thames Water supply chain. However, Thames said it will test bidders’ capability to provide installation services.

New plants and subsequent replacements will be awarded via mini-competitions run by Thames Water.will run for 3 years, with options to extend to a maximum of 8 years.
