Southern Water has gone out to tender with a contract for building and integrated facilities management services worth an estimated £65 million.
The water company wants to establish a long-term service relationship with a facilities management provider with a strong customer focus. The successful supplier will be expected to deliver Southern Water’s objectives for FM improvement in support of its Water for Life strategy for AMP 7 and a transformation in the efficiency, effectiveness and value for money of facilities management services and supply chain across all of its estates portfolio.
Southern Water said it was essential that bidders not only had the capability to deliver core FM services but also understood its vision and objectives and could deliver truly transformational services.
The company added that it was fundamental that the bidder offers ‘added-value’ as part of the contract - such as initiatives related to performance and outcome linked incentive mechanism, data optimisation, insights, etc.
,Southern Water’s FM services are currently provided via a combination of in-house, bundle soft, security maintenance and multiple (circa 60) outsourced for building maintenance and minor civil/small works projects.
A wide range of services are required under the contract, including:
- business continuity management
- business support services
- health and safety management
- maintenance
- environmental and energy management,
- cleaning, security, reception and customer services
- catering
- grounds maintenance
- pest control
- waste management
- administration and management of third party FM contracts.
Initial contract term is 2 years with a further 3 year extension option.
