Cabinet Office seeks market input on £12m national aerial mapping services project

The Cabinet Office is seeking market input prior to going out to tender with a contract for the provision of aerial photography and height data services worth an estimated £12 million.

The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is acting as an agent and conducting the procurement on behalf of the Cabinet Office.

CCS and the Cabinet Office are working together to undertake a tendering exercise to set up new contract for the provision of replacement aerial photography and height data services and associated user services.

The contract will replace the existing contract which provides five core data products via a centrally funded license agreement to the public sector in England, Scotland and Wales. The agreement covers:

  • orthorectified aerial imagery at 25 cm per pixel resolution and 12,5 cm per pixel resolution, both with national coverage
  • colour infrared imagery
  • digital surface model
  • digital terrain model

Products are delivered to users via hard media, download and web mapping services.

CCS and the Cabinet Office are now looking to engage with the market to share more information about the requirement and request feedback on the scope of the contract.

The aim is to gauge market interest by identifying suppliers who would like to participate in market engagement, including the opportunity for suppliers to engage, ask questions, seek feedback, and input into the specification, pricing approach and review the terms and conditions.

A webinar with all suppliers who have expressed an interest will be hosted on 5th September at 10.00 a.m. Deadline for expressions of interest is 3rd September.
