SES Water tenders 5 year electricity supply contract

Sutton and East Surrey Water has gone out to tender with a contract for the supply of half hourly metered electricity for the upcoming AMP7 2020 to 2025 investment programme.

The water company is looking to put an innovative contract in place which will allow it to maximise the value from the flexibility of its assets including both export and storage capabilities. for the period 2020 to 2025. The contract will be for a flexible half hourly contract for a period of 5 years and for 100 % REGO-backed renewable electricity.

SES Water said it is also interested in additional services which the supplier can provide to support its broader energy strategy.

The water-only company supplies drinking water to approximately 687,000 consumers in 286,000 properties in East Surrey and parts of West Sussex, west Kent and south London.

On average SES Water supplies 35,000,000 gallons per day which can rise to 57,000,000 gallons on a hot summer's day - 85 % of its raw water is extracted from underground resources using borehole pumps.

The utility’s current annual electricity demand through HH meters is approximately 52 GWh per year with a current export of approximately 0,5 GWh per year.
