Barts NHS Trust tenders £250m water & sewerage services contract

Barts Health NHS Trust has gone out to tender with a Framework Agreement contract  for the supply of water and wastewater services worth an estimated £250 million in total.

The Framework Agreement will also be available to other NHS organisations to provide water, waste water and other ancillary good and services throughout England, including:

  • account management including customer service
  • billing
  • metering including, meter reading (including acceptance of AMR reads)
  • Automatic Meter Reading.
  • management of sites and meters (including new connections and switching)
  • meter installation/removal/resizing/accuracy tests
  • data management
  • roads and property drainage
  • sewerage services including trade effluent
  • emergency contingency planning
  • 24/7 emergency support
  • guaranteed standards of service
  • other ancillary goods and services within the scope of the contract include:
  • water footprint assessment;
  • tariff optimisation and benchmarking;
  • water audit site surveys;
  • leak detection and repair;
  • contingency planning;
  • legionella risk assessments

The Trust said the Framework Agreement, which will run for three years with a further one year extension option, would provide a greater degree of control and transparency of pricing.

The scope includes provision for suppliers to offer their own or third party financing options on request by contracting NHS authorities. The Authority is looking to appoint a significant number of suppliers to the framework.
