Aberdeenshire Council tenders £3.5m flood defence scheme

Aberdeenshire Council has gone out to tender with a contract  for the Huntly flood defence scheme worth up to £3.5 million.

The Huntly scheme covers raising defences on a section of the right bank of the River Deveron and raising and strengthening the existing defences on the river Deveron between the Bridge of Gibston and the Hill of Haugh. It also includes creating local storage to the west of the Meadows estate by constricting the flow in the Meadow Burn to a figure that can be accommodated by the downstream channel and culvert systems.

The contract is worth up to an estimated £3.5 million. The Council is looking to start work at the end of September with a completion date in June next year.
