UK Government seeks partners for £40m water supply rehabilitation programme in Freetown, Sierra Leone

The UK Department for International Development has given advance notice of its intention to go out to tender with a contract for the rehabilitation of Freetown's water supply and other infrastructure development worth up to £40 million.

The Department  - DFID - is seeking partners to manage a new multi-million programme for rehabilitation works for the water supply system to Freetown, Sierra Leone and development of other infrastructure.

Work likely to be managed through the DFID programme includes the rehabilitation of the existing Freetown water supply infrastructure, based on assessments, pre-design and contract packaging that is currently being undertaken by the Guma Valley Water Company with DFID assistance. It is also likely to cover the protection and regeneration of catchment areas to safeguard water security and reduce climate change vulnerability.

Scheduled date for the start of award procedures for the contract is 29th September 2016. Ahead of that DFID will be hosting an Early Market Engagement Event in London about the planned Programme and the services required from interested parties. The main objective is to elicit market views on the feasibility of the proposed delivery options and to discuss challenges and opportunities.

Further details concerning the event will be published by DFID in due course. DFID will present the programme, its proposed outputs and delivery channels, as well as a set of key questions to stimulate the discussion.

Anyone interested in attending the presentation or requiring any other information must register interest before the event via the DFID Supplier Portal. DFID said it is happy to receive questions in advance of the event, which DFID will respond to at the event itself.
