Water quality engineers Panton McLeod have won a sole supplier contract with Scottish Water which includes the inspection, cleaning and maintenance of over 2000 treated water storage assets across of whole of Scotland including the highland and Islands.
The firm, which is based in the Scottish Borders town of Melrose, has succeeded in winning a 12 year (6 + 6) framework contract with Scottish Water to provide critical engineering services potentially until 2027.
During the contract Panton McLeod will use a variety of specialist methods for the work including robotic technology to carry out maintenance and cleaning on treated water storage assets such as service reservoir and water towers - the last point of storage prior to the customer tap. The company will also make use of a range of bespoke cleaning products which are designed to remove stubborn biofouling and kill harmful organisms such as cryptosporidium.
Panton Macleod, which this year celebrates its 21st birthday, began working in September 1994 with the predecessors of Scottish Water – its first ever clients – and has worked with the utility every year since then.
Business Development Director Paul Henderson is delighted with the contract win, commenting:
“To be able to plan for the next 6-12 years is brilliant for the business and it will secure and create local employment.”
“I would like to thank the whole Panton McLeod team for their support on this tender, from the site teams, supervisors, support staff and management, everyone has played their part.”
