Southern Water has gone out to tender with a major contract for information technology managed services worth an estimated £50 million –deadline to request information is tomorrow.
The water company is looking to appoint up to 4 suppliers to the framework agreement which will run for up to five years. The contract, which is being tendered in 4 Lots, will be awarded for a period of 36 months with options to extend for up to 2 further annual periods.
The current outsourced IT managed services contract is due to expire at the end of March 2016. Southern Water is now planning to establish a new “supplier ecosystem” by partnering with specialist managed service partners who have capability and expertise in the following fields:
Lot 1 — Infrastructure Management and Hosting Services.
Lot 2 — Network and Telecommunication Services.
Lot 3 — End user Computing Services.
Lot 4 — Applications Management and Business Services Integrator.
Potential suppliers for Lot 1, Infrastructure Management and Hosting, will be required to provide a wide range of services, including the provision of service-oriented secure and reliable hosting services for SW and application service providers. They will also be charged with optimisation of Southern Water’s infrastructure estate considering cloud and virtualisation and the assessment and implementation of cloud hosted solutions. The supplier will be required to own and manage all the required assets to optimise cost for Southern Water.
Lot 2, Network and Telecommunications Services, includes the management of all fixed, mobile, wireless and satellite network services, together with management and ownership of all LAN/WLAN, WAN and core network and infrastructure devices.
Suppliers tendering for Lot 3, End User Computing Services, will be required to provide and maintain all end-user devices and provide all peripherals including mobile phones, desk phones, conferencing equipment.
Lot 4, Applications Management and Business Services Integrator, includes the provision of a fully managed application management service, managing, supporting and optimising core applications and interfaces, continuous implementation of SaaS solutions, and for BI and Big Data, managing, supporting and optimising core BI applications and information interfaces.
Time limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing documents is 7th August , with a final time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate of 20th August.
