Draeger wins Thames Water portable gas detector AMP6 contract

Draeger Safety UK Ltd has won a framework agreement to supply portable gas detection units, spare parts and repair and maintenance service throughout all of Thames Water geographic regions.

Thames Water has adopted a new ‘integrated’ approach to sourcing its portable gas detection units (PGD Units). Scope of the contract includes the purchase and supply of PGD Units and spare parts, product selection, manufacture, at-works test, on-site testing, commissioning, provision of associated documentation and necessary certification and warranties, together with operator / maintenance training of all applications.

In addition R&M services will cover the planned and reactive maintenance of the PGD Units, including sensor calibration, repair, overhaul and servicing services. Work will cover both on- and off-site work.

The contract will run for an initial duration of 3 years with options to extend annually up to a maximum length of 7 years, subject to satisfactory reviews on price and supplier performance. Supplier performance includes the measurement and reporting of key performance indicators via monthly reports and  participation in quarterly Supplier Relationship Management review meetings.

Thames Water’s aim in AMP6 is to develop successful partnerships based on the principles of innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The water company is also looking to deliver what it describes as “exceptional value for money based on a TOTEX approach.”

Draeger were one of eight companies in the bidding for the work – no information has been made available on the potential overall value of the contract.
