Thames Water has issued a Prior Information Notice inviting potential suppliers of bulk raw or treated water supply to register their interest.
The water company has set out two separate Lots in the Notice:
Category 1 — which covers the supply of raw or treated water in bulk
Category 2 — which covers both the supply and delivery of raw or treated water in bulk
Thames Water is anticipating that multiple framework agreements will be formed with participants on the register compiled as a result of responses to the notice. However, Thames is also reserving the right to include participants on the register who do not respond.
If a contract is subsequently procured through the register of applicants, pre-qualified applicants will be given a period of time to establish (if necessary) consortia or joint ventures with other pre-qualified applicants and to inform Thames Water where they have done so.
More specific details about Thames Water’s future supply requirements is contained in its Final Water Resources Management Plan 2015-2040. The Notice says this will be refined as the company continues to develop its Water Resources Management Plan and gains a clearer understanding of its future supply requirements.
Thames expects to submit its draft WRMP19 to Defra in March 2018, prior to commencing a public consultation exercise on the plan.
