Anglian Water AMP6 smart water contract win for i2O Water

Smart water networks company i2O Water has been appointed by Anglian Water to help meet future demand for water, improve service levels and reduce its environmental impact during AMP6.

Anglian Water will upgrade its network with i2O’s monitoring software, remote control and fully automatic pressure management technologies to better manage demand and improve network efficiency.

Anglian has committed to cutting current leakage levels by twenty million litres per day by the end of 2020 and cut the time it takes to restore service in the event of an interruption from 19 to 12 minutes on average as part of its AMP6 investment plans.

Significant financial incentives are in place for overachieving targets through Ofwat’s Gain Share Mechanism. Cumulatively the savings add up to almost 3.3 billion litres over the period.

As part of the Optimised Water Networks Strategy, trials of i2O technology at Anglian have already demonstrated a 40 per cent reduction in burst mains and a 35 per cent reduction in leakage on average.  Anglian is aiming to reduce leakage to less than 10% of the water put into supply by 2040.
