Northern Ireland Water has gone out to tender with two separate contracts for sludge disposal worth a combined total of up to £52.5 million.
A contract for sludge management services is divided into two Lots. Lot 1 covers the collection, transportation and discharge of wastewater treatment works (WwTW) liquid sludge (typically 1-8 % dry solids content) from WwTWs to Thickening Centres/Dewatering Centres ‘Reception Centres’ and the collection and transportation of WwTW sludge cake.
Lot 2 involves the collection, transportation and final disposal of WTW residuals .
The contract is worth between £20 million to £40 million – with Lot 1 valued at between £15m to £30m, Lot 2 is worth between £5m to £10m.
Deadline for requests to participate is 9th February.
Northern Ireland Water has also gone out to tender with a separate contract for the desludging of septic tanks and other associated services.
The contract covers the desludging of septic tanks, domestic treatment plants and cesspools, together with transportation of collected sludge to a designated Wastewater Treatment Works ‘Reception Centre’ located across the Province. The contract is worth between £7.5 million and £12.5 million.
Initial contract period is three years with two further one year extension options.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 9th February.
