Affinity Water has announced it will meet its Universal Metering target of installing 25,000 new meters in this financial year by close of play today.
Jointly commissioned research by the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) and Southern Water into customers’ experiences of the company's Universal Metering Programme says metering has the potential to encourage households to use water more wisely if they see financial benefits and receive the right level of care and support from their water company.
New research shows that Southern Water’s pioneering metering programme has had a significant impact on water consumption – a 16.5% reduction compared with the national average of 10%.
