Anglian Water is poised to launch the biggest water efficiency drive the East of England has ever seen with the region set for a ‘Pay as you Flow’ revolution.
Over the next five years, the water company will install 183,000 meters onto its water network, as a way of saving customers money and reducing the amount of water that each household uses. The new meters will be fitted in batches along roads as the most efficient way to install them. The project will begin around Lincoln, Northampton, Peterborough, and Halstead in Essex. 67 per cent of Anglian Water customers are already metered and paying for exactly what they use. In August, the region will celebrate 20 years without a hosepipe ban, despite several periods of drought and the region’s population having increased by almost a quarter over the same period.
