Uisce Éireann has announced the start of preliminary works for a major project to upgrade the wastewater network in Waterford, supporting sustainable growth as Waterford City continues to grow and develop.

Improvements to its wastewater network are required to ensure it can reliably meet environmental standards while supporting future needs.

On site investigations which are a key element of the design of the major project to reimagine the wastewater network, are scheduled to begin in late July 2026 and will be carried out by Causeway Geotech Ltd., on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The project will include an upgrade of the Island View Pumping Station and the wastewater network in Knockboy, Dunmore Road, and surrounding areas.

Once the design phase is completed, Uisce Éireann will progress the statutory, regulatory, and budgetary approvals required to deliver the new infrastructure and are committed to keeping the local community informed as the project progresses.
