Stantec strengthens UK water expertise with two key senior appointments

Stantec UK has announced two senior-level appointments that will see the Canadian-headquartered global design consultancy further strengthen its UK water sector expertise.

Daniel Causley, who joined Stantec (formerly MWH) in 2002,has been appointed Head of Digital for Water Services. He joins from his current position as Technical Discipline Lead for MEICA Engineering for Stantec within the UK where he played a key role in Stantec’s digital steering group which is focused on bringing innovation to the water industry using technology.

In his new role, Daniel will lead the development and delivery of digital services to water clients across the UK and Ireland. Building on the success of Stantec IO , he will focus on combining emerging technologies with the expertise of our technical teams across Stantec’s Water and Energy services.

He will provide leadership to Stantec’s community of digital experts, fostering innovative product development at a local level while maximizing the benefit of digital services developed across the consultancy’s global networks for the benefit of clients in UK & Ireland.

Daniel Causley will work closely with the leadership and technical teams to develop a UK Digital Strategy aligning Stantec’s technological offering with the needs of water clients.

Commenting on his appointment, he said:

“The launch of Stantec IO has unified our digital footprint and it has been pleasing to see the significant impact technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, AR/VR, computational and parametric design, blockchain, digital twins, IoT, and edge computing are having on project outcomes.”

Stantec.io is an integrated digital services approach combining emerging technologies with subject matter expertise to address client project challenges.

Stantec has also bolstered its asset management practice with the appointment of Andrew Bates, Head of Operational Services for its UK and Ireland business.

He joins Stantec from Binnies, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of operations and maintenance services - delivering targeted improvements aimed at increasing asset resilience, reliability, performance and reducing cost.

With over 30 years working within the water industry, in his new role Andrew Bates will focus on the development of asset management services to help clients transform and improve their asset management capability and approach.

Andrew brings to the role a wealth of experience in delivering client focused solutions, systems integration, optimization and maintenance strategies for water assets. Working closely with Louis Quartly, Stantec’s Director of Asset Management and Business Consulting colleagues, he will strengthen Stantec’s advancing growth within the sector.
