Scottish Water is investing around £2.2 million in a project that will help protect and enhance the environment of The Firth of Clyde and coastal waters in Largs.

The improvement work is now under way and involves the renewal and upgrade of sections of the existing sewer infrastructure in the area so that the network can continue to serve customers and protect the local environment for years to come.

Scottish Water’s alliance partners amey Black and Veatch (aBV) have assigned George Leslie to carry out the project which is anticipated to take around seven months for completion.

Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager, said:

“Protecting and enhancing the environment is one of Scottish Water’s top priorities. The improvements being made here are designed to help reduce the frequency and volume of combined storm water and waste water spillages into the bay in storm conditions.

“This will have a significant benefit in terms of improved water quality and a cleaner environment which is good news for local residents and visitors to the area.”
