Retail market: Smarta Water granted water supply and sewerage licences

Water industry regulator Ofwat has granted Smarta Water Ltd water and sewerage licences authorising the company to supply services to business customers in England.

The Durham-based company applied to Ofwat for authorisation in February this year.

Smarta Water’s business plan synopsis says the firm is aiming to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading water retailers which puts customers at the very heart of the business.

“We are committed to provide a high quality consistent level of customer service, underpinned by a competitive pricing strategy with an innovative approach to increasing efficiency, improving sustainability and reducing the costs to and for our customers,” Smarta said.

Services on offer from the retailer include water supply and sewerage services, water efficiency advice and devices – Smarta also offers businesses with multiple sites and meters one single consolidated monthly bill and payment option.

The retailer also provides a range of additional services through agreements and affiliations with industry partners, including water audits and water footprints, leak detection and repair, automatic meter readings and smart metering options including installation, and new connections, including large sites and multi-sites.
