Anglian Water named finalist for BITC Responsible Business of the Year

Anglian Water is among the finalists for the Responsible Business Awards 2017 announced yesterday. The water company has been nominated for the most prestigious – Responsible Business of the Year award – as well as a finalist for the award for Environmental Leadership.

The awards recognise the contribution of companies that put social and environmental concerns at the heart of their strategy.

Nearly 250 companies entered the awards, which are run annually by Business in the Community, the UK charity. The entries were considered by 250 independent assessors and judges from the business community, who picked 48 finalists.

Andy Brown, Anglian Water’s Head of Sustainability said:

“We’re really proud to be finalists, which in itself is a ringing endorsement of Anglian Water’s commitment to sustainability and embedding it in the culture of our entire business and supply chain.

“Anglian Water is focussed on responding to the twin challenges affecting our region – that of a growing population and a changing climate. Our response is Love Every Drop. All our employees, partners and many customers have helped make this possible, by putting water at the heart of a new way of living.

“We have our fingers crossed for the final award, but we are already delighted to be recognised as finalists in such prestigious categories.”

Earlier this week, Anglian Water’s Chief Executive was awarded the Highest Rated CEO award from Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job sites. In its annual Employee Choice awards for 2017, Peter Simpson, who has been at the company helm for eight years, received a ringing endorsement from employees.

An impressive 98 per cent approval rating earned him the top spot in the league table. The water company CEO came out ahead of other business leaders from international companies and industries including Google, Microsoft, Nationwide and Rolls Royce.
