Applications for the Forestry Commission-delivered Woods into Management Forestry Innovation Funds and the Tree Production Innovation Fund are reopening today.

Over 300 companies including Anglian Water (the only UK water company to make the A list), AstraZeneca, Danone, Firmenich, HP Inc, KAO Corporation, Klabin S/A, Mars, Symrise AG and Mitsubishi Electric have today been named on this year’s A List by environmental non-profit CDP. This is a major increase on last year, despite the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19.

Projects which will see 800,000 trees planted across England have been awarded a share of almost £40 million from the Green Recovery Challenge Fund.

Yorkshire Water has planted more than 200,000 trees in the first phase of its ambitious pledge to plant one million trees across its land by 2028.

The House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee has launched a new inquiry to scrutinise whether the Government’s tree-planting targets are realistic, whilst still being ambitious enough, and whether it has the right strategy to deliver them.
