£13M+ United Utilities contract wins for A.E. Yates

Bolton-based civil engineering and tunnelling contractor A.E. Yates has won two contracts worth £13 million-plus from United Utilities to build a new wastewater pumping station and address a number of Blackburn Town unsatisfactory intermittent discharges (UIDs) respectively.

Work on the pumping station, which includes the design, construction and testing of CSO chambers, detention tank and transfer tunnels and the associated pipework, is valued at £5.45 million, while the UID contract, which includes a sub-contracted element of £764,000, is worth £8,666 000.

Three companies were in the bidding for the work.
